A viral image featuring three black cats in a woodland setting has left social media users puzzled after they struggled to locate a fourth feline in the picture. The image, which has been widely shared on Reddit, was posted on the r/confusing_perspective forum with a caption that read, “There are four cats in this photo. The fourth cat is of a different color than the other felines.
While the black cats are easily visible, the tabby cat is almost perfectly camouflaged in the background, making it difficult for some users to spot. Some users admitted it took them a while to find the hidden feline, while others were able to locate it in just seconds.
According to researchers from the University of Augusta, those who were able to spot the fourth cat almost instantly might have a heightened ability to see through camouflage. The researchers in 2021 investigated a deep learning training method developed back in 2012 that enables individuals to identify camouflaged objects. Six volunteers were trained to recognize when something was amiss or different in an image and how to identify a target in a camouflage scene.
As per Science Alert, a few volunteers were able to spot the camouflaged object in just 50 milliseconds after glancing at the image. So, if you were one of the users who was able to spot the hidden cat quickly, congratulations on your impressive visual perception skills!
