Domien’s humor, and also the way he treated serious matters as not much of a big deal, made him one of the voices most peculiar amongst comedians of dark humor. He says: “My father always used to say: a dirty mind is a joy forever. I love that. It’s a must to laugh about everything. Humor helps bring serious messages to a wider audience. Laughing also helps fight censorship, which happens to be a world enemy today.”

In his witty, some time quirky, style of expression, Domien employs humor to make people think. His work more frequently places him among the creative minds of some of the best in humor comics using light-hearted jests and more serious messages.
Although Domien has a job in a bank during the day far cry from something most would describe as exciting-to him, it allows his mind the freedom of doing more creative things at night. “I follow strict rules at work, which makes me quite free when creating art,” he said. “There are no rules when it comes to art, and anything is possible.”.

His creativity is sparked by real-life events, whether it’s anger that stems from the news or spontaneous ideas that come to him just before sleep. “I often email myself random words late at night to capture ideas before I forget them,” Domien shared, a practice that helps him develop the hilarious and often thought-provoking content that populates his Instagram.
Drawing came into Domien’s life very early; he was surrounded by pop art and had a giant Lichtenstein print over his couch. He didn’t illustrate, though, until much later. “My wife had all the equipment in the house-she’d been an illustrator since the early 1990s. I got bored one day, started playing around with the Wacom tablet, and a few months later launched my Instagram page. That was the beginning.”.

His style, though simple, is pop-art-inspired with a cartoon-like edge, perfect for hilarious comics. “I love finding that tension between playful colors and serious messages; whether I lean into political activism or something just a little bit dirty-minded, that’s what allows me to get the message across, in a playful way, to a much broader audience.”
About his skills being not so perfect, Domien admits that there is no way to deny the fact that his style reflects a mixture of skills, thus creating masterpieces in just a few seconds understandable to people important aspect of quality dark humor comics.

The favorite moment of the creative process for Domien was when the image he had in mind came out exactly as he imagined. But the most difficult part is if the final drawing doesn’t match exactly what he had in his mind. “I don’t enjoy the drawing itself more than seeing an image come to life.” That’s why Domien is also very interested in printmaking, especially silkscreen printing, the process wherein he transforms blank pages into art-a very fulfilling task.
But Domien’s comics always walk that fine line of socially acceptable and basically taboo. “I like making images that set a limit. It’s fun to find that line between what is acceptable and what some might find rude or inappropriate,” he said. That line has cemented his existence among creators of the best dark humour comics.

In private life, Domien is balancing his career with bouldering, traveling, and good food and drinks. He describes himself as an outsider who never quite fit into either the normal crowd or the outcasts. “My art is a reflection of that balance. I’m both a 32-year-old creative guy and a grumpy old man,” he said jokingly

Domien sent his audience into the world with one final piece of advice: “Brush your teeth at least twice a day. They won’t grow back, and nobody likes bad breath.”
