We were able to interview the ingenious maker of these adorable cute couple comics, Anjali, and get more insight into her life and work. Here’s how she started when asked:
“Since childhood, I have always been fascinated by comics and doodling love stories. I was naturally good at drawing and illustrating, so I pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts. There, I learned the basics of design, illustration, and software like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Now, I am creating a couple of comic strips with Adobe Illustrator.”

What inspired her to make these funny couple comics, Anjali says,
“It all started when I drew a comic strip for KT, my partner, about the story of how we met. He loved it so much that he encouraged me to create more, eventually convincing me to share my work on a digital platform. That is how Anjali Comics was born, and it’s been over two years now.”

Being an artist isn’t that simple; one has periods of burnout and no inspiration repeatedly. So we are curious to know what drives her to work so hard more so because “The love and support of my audience inspire me to keep on creating. Knowing people are eagerly waiting for my relationship cartoons every Sunday evening makes it all worth it.” And so, we asked Anjali how people react when she posts comics. She said:
Oh, how I love how they connect with our characters! I get so many messages from people saying our characters look like them. People even send pictures sometimes to compare themselves to the characters!

“Don’t be shy or embarrassed about sharing your art. Don’t worry about being judged. Focus on creating content that makes you happy, rather than something you can’t relate to just to please an audience. Be authentic and true to yourself.”
She further continued: Our art is inspired by daily life experiences. About 90% of the posts are based on real incidents, while 10% are wildly over-dramatic imaginations. I’m thrilled our audience finds it so relatable!
