Short comics are interesting ways to pass your time by relating with each other over a love for humor and familiar themes. The artist behind SpaceboyCantLOL, Mohit Srivastava, is known for having rapid shifts in themes. His short, funny comics range from lighthearted jokes to puns to dark-themed comics that surprise the reader with how he/ she reached the point they did. In today’s world, a little bit of madness in the comic content might be just what’s in order.
Mohit’s work, often some of the best humor comics online, has been featured here before, so feel free to explore his previous pieces by clicking on the last post.

We recently caught up with Mohit, or Mo, for that matter, the creator behind SpaceboyCantLOL, to discuss his choice of turning full-time to funny comic strips, the creative process, and future plans.
“Two things I have been working on for years: 1) creating a fun brand, and 2) achieving financial freedom. And when I lost my job in December of 2022, instead of going out there to look for another, I thought this was the time to build SpaceboyCantLOL as a brand and towards financial independence.”

At present, Mohit is putting his savings into his passion project. He hopes it will then become one of the more robust platforms online for humor comics and is financially sustainable.
Mohit explained to give themselves some time so that boredom may hit them and kindle creativity. Referencing guidance he has given at ComicCon India, he said,
“You gotta leave space to get bored, stare blankly, and let the best ideas find you when you’re not looking for them.”

He addressed all the creators who have experienced creative blocks, encouraging them to rest and not try to force ideas: “This is actually how I returned after being away for 2.5 years in total.”
Mohit enjoys the ever-rising support of his followers, who love short jokes mixed with dark humor comics. He shared:
“The community and support I’ve built is priceless. There’s nothing quite like receiving a message from someone saying they found my page on a bad day and now can’t stop laughing. Some even show me tattoos inspired by my comics!”

Although he usually takes long breaks apart, his followers remain loyal and he respects this very much:
“Even if I disappear for weeks, months, or even years, I can come back to the same people who never unfollowed and continue rooting for my work.”
He also expressed excitement about one of his latest short, funny comics reaching one million views and described that moment as pure joy.

Mohit has ambitious plans for SpaceboyCantLOL. He is interested in animation series, scripts, podcasts, merchandising, books, street art, advertisements, and so much more. He wants to share his humorous comics with a wider audience around the world and doesn’t mind collaborations at all. He said,
“I’m always open to working with passionate people in creative fields who want to try something new with me. Feel free to reach out via Instagram DMs or email if you’re interested in collaborating.”

Mohit is also working on a website, which should go live sometime in the coming months, offering even more ways to connect with him and explore his funny comics online.
As he pointed out, Mo previously ran a page for a Hindi-speaking audience, @Taglrindia, but now he shoots for a wider, universal crowd. He explained:
“I see myself producing content for the world. Honest answer, I don’t think in terms of borders or races, so why should I limit myself to a particular section? I’d like to satirize and joke at all humanity using only one standard; no discrimination at all. I do not think that there’s all content to all men but I’d rather focus on just making something good enough because the right people will watch it anyway.”
His combination of humor comics in English, shorter ones, and darker mirth has characterized him as one of the best young artists in the funny cartoon business.
