His inspiration takes the form of some of the most iconic YouTube animators, such as JaidenAnimations, comic drawing Anime, and his personal experience. His girlfriend is often Samuel’s muse in his relationship, providing a wholesome touch to his comics element that fans love.

We get to sit down and talk to Samuel about his journey as an artist and how he manages to acquire inspiration for his ideas through comic drawing. I chose memes at random, picking only a few that made me laugh. I prefer ‘situational memes,’ which are more or less ‘those things people can relate to, making them ideal for relatable comics,’ he observes. Much of his material is already existing material, and references appear in most of his works, he says. His style? Influenced by many-a-channel shows like ‘Adventure Time’ and storytime YouTubers like JaidenAnimations.

In his comic drawing techniques, he balances the traditional and digital approaches. “Most of the comics I post are done using digital art. I use the ibisPaint app on my tablet for everything—from sketching to framing—until the comic is ready to post. I rarely use traditional art for my comics, though I practice with it to hone my skills by drawing animal sketches and portraits.”

Samuel wholesome comics hit well with humor and creativity. “I don’t take my content too seriously, so I usually get jokes and funny comments on my posts. I love engaging with my audience in the ‘comment section’—it’s like your typical Instagram thread,” he added. Samuel regularly practices, drawing inspiration from random thoughts as he uses references to make his art complete.

Samuel recounts how far he has gone in terms of how things are since he started working on comic drawing in late 2020. “The quality of work done has improved significantly. I’ve begun to stray away from reference-based comics and instead tend to be inspired by memes. I enjoy drawing comics with non-conventional endings that surprise my audience.”

Looking forward, there are lots of exciting things in store for “Samimations.” He shared, “I want to expand on my characters—Sam, Mimi the Imaginary Girlfriend, and Stan the Sleep Paralysis Demon. I’m working on a new series called ‘Our Everyday Life with the Eldritch Horror,’ which will keep offering more comic drawing ideas and fun, unexpected scenarios.”
