Ryan Hudson, hailing from Salt Lake City, UT, is the mastermind behind Channelate, a webcomic known for its unique blend of absurdity, darkness, and humor. Over the past decade, Ryan’s comics have evolved from short, 3 or 4-panel dark-humored drawings to encompass live-action cartoons on YouTube, as he pours more time into his artistic passion.
His journey began in the late ’90s when he stumbled upon JoeCartoon.com, sparking his desire to create web cartoons. Inspired by webcomics like The Perry Bible Fellowship, Thingpart, and Cyanide and Happiness, Ryan carved his niche in the world of dark humor.

Despite his simple drawing style, Ryan’s humor strikes a chord with a cynical audience, reminiscent of fans of the irreverent humor of South Park. He credits South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone as significant influences, along with his childhood love for The Simpsons. Ryan’s creative process, though straightforward compared to others, faced challenges when transitioning Channelate into animation. Utilizing Adobe Animate CC (Flash) on a Wacom Cintiq, he sketches, inks, and colors his comics, initially using Manga Studio 5. While Channelate isn’t Ryan’s primary source of income, it has opened doors to exciting freelance projects.
