The hilarious adventures of a little boy (Jeff) and his siblings with their Mom and sometimes confused dad. Readers enjoy the comics for their adorable artwork and relatable storytelling, they speak to everyone who has experienced joy or sadness when it comes to family. Every comic is by its nature a piece of family life everyone can recognise – but particularly, those who know right well what it means to have children in the house.
The difference is that “My Name Jeff” just senses humor in regular life. These three combinations make all the mundane happenings in this book laugh out-loud funny, from Jeff walking to school and contemplating life…to the wonderful conversations between him and his parents. Some comics delve into dark humor and “My Name Jeff” is a lovely wholesome comic series that melts the heart. The ongoing success and ease of sharing established work is one thing both the creator and community greatly appreciate, as even though life has gotten busier for the artist since their days creating new comics with strips like “My Name Jeff,” fans can still turn to this heartwarming content time after time.

We asked Jeff about his journey and process. He explained that he was an artist at the ed-tech company and in parallel created “My Name Jeff”. But life got in the way and I had to stop making my comics. After that, I started acting as a UI/UX designer. “During my free time, I enjoy doing pencil sketches and playing video games,” Jeff said.

Jeff said that he started making the My Name Jeff comics as a way to move on from traditional art and learn digital. As I grew older, comic books by DC and Marvel intrigued me but then I couldn’t make these back at that time. I began with basic, over-the-top humor parodying my childhood growing up. So for me those were almost like writing exercises I was doing and posting online – really not expecting anything. Much to my amazement, people were reading and liking them. It was a small start, but we received good responses. Every once in a while I would get DMs from readers saying things like, ‘This brightened my whole day; thank you’ The responses were so heartfelt and that was such an incredible high to keep doing comics.

Originally, I created these as a way to teach myself to draw better digitally only later did they become about connecting with other people through humor and nostalgia. Every comic was an outlet for joking about things from my history, and other people liked them because they had similar experiences. The fulfillment of having the power to make someone’s face a smidge lighter, even for just an instant – that thought became my jackboot primus inter pares when it came to creating newer comics and effectively turned a petty hobby into a mosaic of passion-borne-rue.”

While Jeff doesn’t make “My Name is Jeff” — and has no plans to return in the immediate future, he’s keeping his hope up for the betterment of tomorrow. Right now I’m working full time as a UI/UX designer and that takes up most of my day. Even drawing the comics, you find on Patreon has been hard to get my rhythm and going in a long time. Though, I retain the hope to eventually catch up on it down the road. Jeff continued; “This is the magic of making comics- storytelling, something I love to do and perhaps one day will again.

Though Jeff dealt in silly and good-natured humor with “My Name Jeff,” the webcomic-sphere is also a hive of dark humor comics, as well as some shock-horror enough to arouse even his fan base looking for bigger thrills. From balanced and humorous, right down to funny comics with a twist ending – the genre provides laughs as diverse and original in its format.
