Are you ready for a feast of absurd comics, irony, dark humor, and some hilariously relatable situations? Super! We are excited to introduce you to Fairly Good Comics series of hilarious comics online created by UK-based artists Eddie and James Ward. Known for their dark humor comics with unexpected endings, this series is just perfect for fans of funny comic strips and hilarious comics for adults.

The Ward Brothers have been creating comics since they were wee, drawing influences from the classics like Beano and Dandy. “We were obsessed with them growing up,” they said. Even though these brothers run a pretty successful greeting card company known as Quite Good Cards, which has sold more than a million cards worldwide, they wanted to delve further into longer stories. That’s how @FairlyGoodComics, their collection of funny comics online, came into existence—giving them an opportunity to explore more complex humor and stories.

They unveiled a series of designs in cartoon style in 2023; many of these were featured in The New Yorker and Private Eye magazines. Besides cartoons, the two have devoted itself to collaborating on a number of other creative enterprises, including short films, comedy pilots, radio sketches, and animation testaments to their genius as dark humor comedians.

As for what Eddie and his friend James use as inspiration for new ideas with regard to creating dark humor comics online, he simply explained, “We note funny things we see or hear, then meet up—usually over a pint or two—to discuss ideas. We sift out the shite, and hopefully, we’re left with at least one idea we like.”

Most of the comic strips feature recurring characters. Regarding the process of developing such characters, the brothers said, “They’re based on people we know or have met. Our plan is to create a whole world of these characters, like a traditional sketch show, and bring them back when an idea fits the character.”

Several influences shine through in their comedy: “We love The Office, Alan Partridge, Brass Eye, and The Thick of It. Our parents are unintentionally hilarious, which helped shape our sense of humor. But mostly, we find the pathetic and preposterous aspects of human experience hilarious. Oh, and farts.”.
